Over the River and Through the Woods….

Actually, it was more like "through the woods and over the river" to Sandy's house we went today.  What a gorgeous home she has!  It was so fun to be there and to stamp together with her and Liz.  And we did not have to walk over the hanging bridge (and, yes, it really is a hanging bridge), but holey moley – that water still was pretty doggone high!  I think Liz and I both are very envious of Sandy's stamping space.  It's very large – and she has a walk-in closet too – lots of room to spread out!

Here's the card we made at the meeting. I wanted to use some new products, and I wanted to use different paper – so here's what I came up with.

Again, this looks a lot better in real life!  I stamped the solid flowers in Bashful Blue on Very Vanilla.  (Here's a little tip for you:  Before you ink your solid stamp for the first time, "season" it.  Either lightly sand it with a sanding block, or clean it really well, or rub it on your pants leg just to get the final residue from the manufacturer off the rubber.  Then, I like to ink it in Versamark and then in the classic ink before stamping.  The Versamark helps grab the ink so you get a better image.)

After I stamped the flowers, I took a blender pen and added some Marina Mist and Not Quite Navy shades and shadows so the flowers wouldn't be quite as flat.  And, of course, glitter!  I used the champagne glitter from the Galaxy stack.

The rest is pretty obvious.  The doily was punched with the new punch on the 3rd layer, and I punched the skinny sentiment layer with the Modern Label punch.  If you cut your card stock narrow enough to put it in from the outside (so the long part sticks out of the punch and doesn't get punched) you can stretch your punches!  I could have turned it around and punched the other side, but I wanted to fishtail it instead, using a square punch.

Here are the supplies.  Hope you enjoyed your day today (it was lovely here, and we even had sunshine) and have a wonderful day tomorrow!

  1. Sandy says:

We sure did have a good time yesterday, you, Liz and me. Next time we’ll be sure the river is up so you can expeience the hanging bridge. This card is just gorgeous in person — the picture does not do it justice. The sparkle in the centers of the flowers, the 3-way punch is marvelous, and after stamping that Marina Mist flower you used the extra ink with blender pens which just “finished” those flowers and made them real. I love, love, love, this card — did I say I love this card? Yum. Come back any time!
