Winter Wonderland

Mike & I have been trying to simplify our lifestyle for years.  This includes getting rid of a lot of stuff we don't need (that's hard; most of our "stuff" we really do need.  Or at least we do the day after we get rid of it!), weeding out unimportant activities and spending less money.  I love that part, because I can justify my stamping addiction.  I mean, a simple dorky card at the store costs $3.00, so I'm saving a huge amount of money by creating my own.

I've noticed that most stampers are simplifying their projects.  I'm seeing less layers, less embellishments, but still clean, lovely cards.

I got my "Tags til Christmas" bundle today, and…what fun!  You don't have to use the tags for tags, of course, and each stamp corresponds to a punch – so you don't have to cut anything out!

I was putting lotion on before I went to bed last night (what is it about getting older?  Is it the weather or is it my skin?), and I happened to take special note of the container.  It was Whisper White and Pacific Point – with a little bit of So Saffron thrown in.  I wanted to use that color scheme today, and it's a little funky for Christmas, but here ya go –

I put tape over the to:from: on the stamp, inked in Pacific Point, then took off the tape (very important) and stamped on Whisper White card stock.  The 1-3/4" circle punch punches it right out – and I layered it to a 2-3/8" scallop.

My dear, sweet mom bought me Tiny Tags this month, so that's where the little "merry" came from.  I started to stamp it in So Saffron, but, well, I grew up with brothers, and seeing something stamped in yellow on a snowy background….you get the idea.  (Boys are weird.)  So I used markers and inked "merry" in Pacific Point and the little underlining dots in So Saffron.

I had fun with the scallops – I dotted Moonlight smooch paint on each one.  And the snowflake was die cut with the Northern Flurry decorative strip, and dunked in Versamark.  I added Heat & Stick powder, heated, then glittered.  I think this is a little softer and more elegant than the Iridescent Ice embossing powder.

Here are all the supplies –
