Birthday Butterflies

In the Occasions mini catalog, there were shaped board books, and I had to get one to see what they were like.  They were, of course, adorable.  I got the bird one and did several things with it.  At the back, though, there was an extra sheet of chipboard that wasn't cut.  It was just "filler" to keep the other pages in line, I guess.  So…

Birthday_butterflies I added a little Greenhouse Gala designer paper to the chipboard and cut some butterflies out of the chipboard with the Beautiful Butterflies die.  Then I ran those through the Big Shot with the Finial Press embossing folder, added a little Whisper White craft ink to the raised areas, then heat & stick powder and Dazzling Diamonds glitter.  (Hard to see in the picture, but it's there!)  Finally, I sponged a little Pumpkin Pie on the edges of the butterflies.  The little flower button is homemade; I punched 3 little flowers with the Itty Bitty Shapes flower punch, glued them together and clear embossed.  The sentiment is from Watercolor Trio (sniff, sniff…It's going away after Tuesday unless someone at Stampin' Up! decides to put it on the "carry over" list).

This will probably be for my college roommate's birthday.  I don't know why this reminds me of her; she wasn't really a "butterfly" person (she was more into elephants).

Mike & I watched "The Runaways" movie last night.  Yikes!  I'd just like to thank my parents for actually being parents.  The girls in the band were quite talented, but the whole rock/alcohol/drug culture thing makes me sad.  Kids who got caught up in it totally lost out on their childhood, and no amount of fame can replace that.  Of course, that's just my opinion.  But I'm so grateful to Dad & Mom for the lifestyle we had and the values they instilled in us.  We had a solid foundation of love, faith, loyalty, integrity and honesty, and we always knew – no matter what – that our parents would be there for us and would always love us.  So, thanks, Dad & Mom!  I know at times we rolled our eyes and complained about some of the rules, and all of us "strayed" for a season, but you stayed strong and didn't cave to teenage pressure (like you would have!! HA!), and it was so worth it.  You're the best!
