We had some seriously heavy rain last night and this morning. I mean, there were puddles on hills and water gushing down streets, and…ok, it's not as bad as in California, but if it had been snow instead of rain, we would have wanted to move to Minnesota to get away from it. But it was way to warm to be snow, thank goodness!
So after two days of dreariness, I needed some sunshine, so I decided to do something "yellow." This is a little bold – but it worked! When I came upstairs, I saw sunshine and blue sky.
This started as a challenge posted on the Stampin' Up! demonstrator forum. But I also wanted to try making these little paper flowers. They are the same idea as Janine Tinklenberg's ruffles that we've made. I think we'll be making them at the technique class this week. (This is Monday, class is Wednesday…I should be deciding pretty soon, don't you think?)
So here are all the details –
Stamp set: Wings of Friendship
Ink: Crushed Curry, Brocade Blue classic; Soft Suede Stampin' Write marker; Whisper White craft
Paper: Crushed Curry, Brocade Blue, So Saffron, Soft Suede, Old Olive
Accessories: Basic Jumbo grommets, Circle fire rhinestone brads, Big Shot, Stampin' Up! Backgrounds I Texturz Plates, Silicone Rubber, Impressions Pad, Mat Pack, bone folder, paper piercing tool, stampin' dimensionals, mini glue dots, So Saffron grosgrain ribbon, punches. I used lots of punches. For the flower, I used the 1 1/4" and 1 3/8" circle punches, the 3/4" circle punch, and the eyelet border punch. For the bird, well, that's obviously the extra large two-step bird punch. The trim around the panel the bird is layered on and the Brocade Blue strip is the scallop trim border punch. And I also used the scallop trim corner punch. The sentiment layer uses the large oval and the scallop oval punch.
So now that the sun's out, I have to make a phone call I've been putting off. I'm not sure how I won the coin toss on this one, but…actually, I don't remember the coin toss. I think I've been tricked! And, in case you're wondering, the sun being out has nothing to do with the phone call. My mind is just wandering today. I think it's because I was the last one in the shower and there was very, very, very limited hot water, so I'm a little off. Maybe some hot chocolate will do the trick…Or my sugar free mocha coffee. It's really good with one of the little chocolate Santas melted in it!
