I love giving gift cards for Christmas, because the recipient can buy whatever he/she wants (or, at least, get whatever they want in the store the card is from) and it doesn't take up any space. So each year I try to find a new gift card holder idea.
Here's one for this year.
I got the Baskets & Blooms die for the Big Shot but haven't used it a whole lot. Fitting the bottom into the basket was giving me, well, fits! With a little help from my friend and upline Sarah, I think this one came out ok.
It's very, very simple. The basket is made from Soft Suede Designer Series Paper, and the ribbon is Real Red polka dot grosgrain. The tag is just white card stock; I added half a scallop circle to the top to dress it up.
But look at the bird!!
It's one of the new punches you'll see in the Occasions Mini catalog. He is so cute – and a lot bigger than you'd think. The punch will punch a bird, wing, branch and leaves all at once. (So, of course, I had to punch two, because I wanted the bird to be red and the branch Old Olive.) Some of the samples I've seen have the branch punched in a brownish card stock, then punched again in a green. The leaves were cut and adhered to the brown branch. I just took a soft suede marker and colored the green branch brown. Ta-da. Done.
I think I'm going to take a Linda Heller idea and recycle some of the grocery store coupons you get at the check-out. Ink them up with classic ink, then shred them for packaging. I don't have the nifty little handheld shredder she has, but I can use my paper cutter since I'm only doing a couple.
Have a great day! I'm working on some Christmas presents and tags today.
