I just read a "Cinderella" story. It was very sweet, and reminded me of the movie "Ever After." So, of course, I was inspired to use Humor in High Heels today when I finally got back to my stamp room. Honestly, I was having withdrawal. I hope this card looks as sweet on your monitor as it does in person.
When I first looked at the stamp, I thought, "Wow, why did they show the back of the pillow behind the shoe?" Oh, yeah….it was glass. Guess it's been a long, long time since I read the real story. Usually when I think of it, I hear my brother doing his "Spoonerism" rendition of "Rindercella" for a 4-H talent contest years ago. It was hilarious; Mike (my brother) can be so deadpan when he's telling a funny story. He read it so seriously, but when he got to the part where Rindercella "slopped her dripper," the crowd went wild with laughter. He won, by the way.
I stamped the shoe on watercolor paper with StazOn, then watercolored the pillow. I let a little color bleed into the shoe, so it would look more "glass-like." Then I used a 2-way glue pen on the pillow with Chunky Sprinkles, and Crystal Effects with Dazzling Diamonds glitter sprinkled in on the shoe.
Here's another card from the same set.
I stamped it first on Prestwick designer paper, then colored the lining, belt, flower and designer label (because I'm sure it's a designer dress!) with watercolor pencils and a blender pen.
The tabs are large oval punches, and the background is more Prestwick paper. I have absolutely no idea what the little red dots on the card are. They're not on the card – just the scan (so I'm going to hazard a guess and say glitter from the shoe or pillow. Oops!…..better clean that off before Husband Mike sees the scanner!)
Wednesday, November 19, is our monthly technique class. We'll be adding Smackin' Acetate, Fossil Stone, and Watercolor Wonder Crayons to our technique books. If you want to join in, we meet the last Wednesday of the month at 11 a.m. or at 6 p.m. (whichever works into your schedule). I know….tomorrow is not the last Wednesday, but that's the day before Thanksgiving. We're not meeting the last Wednesday next month, either, because of Christmas & New Year's. It will be the 17th of December. But in January, we'll be back on schedule.
Don't forget the Country Living Holiday Stampin' Kit. It's packed with lots of ideas and materials for gift giving and holiday decorations. Also, rub-ons are being promoted this month. With a $20 purchase, you can enjoy a 20% savings on rub-ons.
I'll be having a Holiday Stamping Gala the first week of December. We'll make loads of projects, but you only choose the ones you want to make. I'll have more details soon.
