Quick & Simple!

I always have people telling me, "I just don’t have time to make my own cards."  Well – today’s card is a quickie that took about 10 minutes (or less).  There’s no way you could drive to the store and get a card in that time (unless, of course, you have a Hallmark right next door).  And don’t get me started about the gas you’d use getting there.

I wanted to finally use my new "All Scallops," and I also remembered I hadn’t used "Heard from the Heart" yet.  So I was thumbing through the Spring/Summer Stampin’ Up! catalog, and found a card on p. 120 that I liked.  I changed the colors and the stamp set, but it’s the same idea.

Someone asked me just yesterday where I get my color combinations.  Interesting question.  Sometimes, I see something in fashion or in a logo or something that gets my attention.  When brown and turquoise were popular together, I kind of overused them (right, Karen?).  Other times, I see a card or hear someone talking about her favorite combination and CASE (copy and share everything) the idea.

But most of the time, I get colors exactly like I did in my quickie card.  Here’s the card – then I’ll tell you where the colors came from.

Embrace_life_pink
Ok – ready for my "pearls of wisdom?"  I knew I wanted to use Embrace Life, so I decided a pinkish card would be good.  Then I looked at my stash of card stock to see what I had been neglecting, and right there beside the underused Barely Banana were Pale & Perfect Plum.  So I used my color coach to find a pink to complement Perfect Plum (turned out to be Pretty in Pink on this one).  Sage Shadow was another color in the suggested set, so there you have it.  And, yes, as the daughter of an apple grower, I do tend to use pink and green a lot!  The Shenandoah Apple Blossom Festival is a big tradition in Winchester, celebrated the first weekend in May.  I’m a member of the Virginia State Horticultural Society Women’s Auxiliary (WHEW!), and we sponsor a luncheon during the festival.  This card would make a great thank you for the gifts that are donated for door prizes.

Here’s the whole "recipe":
Stamp sets:  Embrace Life, Heard from the Heart, All Scallops
Ink:  Basic Gray, Perfect Plum, Pretty in Pink
Paper:  Pretty in Pink, Perfect Plum, Sage Shadow, Confetti White
Accessories:  Scallop border punch, Stamp-a-ma-jig, 2-way glue pen, Dazzling Diamonds glitter, crimper, Stampin’ Dimensional, Watercolor Wonder crayons (Soft Subtles), Aqua Painter

On my color coach trip from Perfect Plum to Pretty in Pink, I found the coolest color combo for Pale Plum.  Tomorrow, I’ll use some of those colors.  (If you have the color coach, you can look it up; otherwise, you’ll just have to be surprised!)

RETIRING ACCESSORIES ARE SELLING OUT!
Remember to look at the retired accessories list!  Things are disappearing fast.

CRAFT CAMP AUGUST 13
Also, the Craft Camp is approaching.  I changed the idea just a bit.  The cost for the entire camp is $12.  Or – you can pick and choose what you want to make.  The white board and folder are $5.00 each, and the post-it holder is $2.00.  So you can mix and match, or just make one or two things, or make 3 of the same.  Just be sure to tell me what you’re making when you RSVP so I’ll have supplies for you.
